The 2013 Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at the Lan Be park in Ha Long city, the northern province of Quang Ninh on April 11-13.

Themed “A Japanese cultural feature in Ha Long”, the event is part of activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan (September 21) and Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year.

The festival, the first of its kind held in Quang Ninh province, aims to promote cultural exchange, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The festival will include a showcase of 100 Hikan cherry branches shipped from Nago city, Okinawa prefecture, and five Garyuu cherry trees from Takayama city, Gifu prefecture, said the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Information and Communications on April 2.

There will also be a trade fair to introduce handicraft products, tourism services and special foods, art performances, and an exhibition of art paintings and portrait drawings.

On this occasion, Japan will present 100 cherry trees to Ha Long city to plant in Lan Be park.
